The Horsefair Shopping Centre has been given a number of vintage photographs and has created a display showing this part of Wisbech before it was built 25 years ago.
A collection of 14 photographs are currently being displayed in the store window opposite the centre’s Peacocks store until the end of August. The centre is also inviting shoppers to share their old photos of the centre via its Facebook page.
The centre was officially opened by Noel Edmunds in 1988, a huge crowd of people attended the opening day to catch a glimpse of the star, and to be part of opening day. The centre’s photos show some of the old buildings that once stood where the centre and the bus station are located today.
Horsefair manager, Kevin Smith: “It is brilliant that the centre has such a rich history, I have spoken to lots of shoppers about our photo display and quite a few were here on the opening day 25 years ago!”
