Two Wisbech charities will benefit from £500 donations when the new Tesco Extra store opens next week.

Representatives from Wisbech Sea Cadets and the Wisbech & District Cancer Support Group, nominated to each receive a £500 Tesco donation, will be the guests of honour when the store opens on Thursday and will be invited to cut the ribbon to declare the new Cromwell Road store officially open at 10am.

Customers will also be handed a free hessian shopping bag, complete with a picture design from local schoolgirl Nicole Cohen (11). The store ran a competition asking pupils to design a healthy eating poster and Nicole’s from Leverington Primary Academy was judged the winner. Her colourful poster was printed on the limited edition bags to be given away in store.

The existing store will close at 5pm next Wednesday.
