A new Ladbrokes betting shop opens its doors today (Wednesday) in the Horsefair Shopping Centre, Wisbech.
Ladbrokes has taken over the vacant unit next to Boots and is promising customers a 21st Century betting shop, with five 50” televisions, self-betting terminals and touch-screen technology.
Neil Parry, who oversees five shops in this area, said it was a new concept for the company.
“It is the first kiosk shop in this area and the first bookmakers in the Horsefair,” he said.
The existing Ladbrokes in Church Terrace will not be closing and the new store has seen a new employee taken on, Hollie Dodkin. Jordan West, from the March store, will be working there, as will Danielle Parry, from the Wisbech store.
The official opening is planned for later in the summer and in the run-up there are lots of things planned, including the Festival of Machines, which will include the games Thai Flower, Laquelle, Mega Bars and Key Bet Roulette in consecutive weeks with a top prize of £100 per week.
To celebrate Ladbrokes opening, the store is giving one lucky Citizen reader the chance to win £1 million by having two free six-number bets on the Irish Lotto for a whole year.
To be in with a chance of winning, answer the following question: Who won the 2013 Grand National?
Send your answer, along with your name, address and a daytime telephone number - marked LADBROKES COMPETITION - to the Citizen at 11 Union Street, Wisbech, PE13 1DN. Entries can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Closing date is 10am on Tuesday, June 18. You must be over 18 to enter.
