Visitors have been flocking to Tydd St Giles Golf and Leisure Estate in since 1995 and this month the holiday park is starting an archive of fond memories.
To mark the opening of its new leisure complex and to celebrate its 18th birthday next year, the team at Tydd St Giles is inviting visitors to submit stories and photographs from past visits.
Adrian Hurst, Managing Director of Tydd St Giles Golf and Leisure Estate, said: “We are launching a search this month for nostalgia from people from all over the UK who have visited or more recently holidayed at Tydd St Giles, as well as seeking stories and photos from locals who drop in for a game of golf or a relaxing stroll around the Estate.
“We’re hoping to encourage people to share their tales from their past visits. We have regular golfers who have been playing here since we first opened and we’re sure they have some tales to tell. We would also like to hear from anyone who has stayed in one of our holiday homes on-site.
“The traditional British holiday has become more popular again and we’ve definitely seen an increase in visitors this year at Tydd St Giles.”
Tydd St Giles Golf and Leisure Estate first opened as a nine-hole golf course in 1995 and became a holiday venue in 2009 with the addition of seven holiday lodges.
Today the site features more than 35 holiday homes and buy to let properties, and thousands of visitors have since flocked to the estate to enjoy a variety of activities.
Adrian added: “From the days when we first opened the golf course through to the full holiday experience we offer today, thousands of Brits have visited Tydd St Giles and we’re keen to hear their happy memories and funny stories and to share them with all our visitors online.
“So now we’re asking locals and the nation if Tydd St Giles has played an important part in their life? Did they meet the love of their life here? Or are they a second generation visitor to the park? Let us know your tale and it could feature as one of our ‘nostalgia specials’ of the week on our website or Facebook page. We will also be telling our Twitter followers all about the stories too.”
The nostalgia campaign is being run as part of Tydd St Giles’ 18th anniversary next year. A selection of nostalgic tales will be published on Tydd St Giles’ Facebook page and via its Twitter account throughout the winter season.
Tydd St Giles Golf and Leisure Estate spans more than 150 acres of Cambridgeshire’s finest Fenland. The exclusive community of luxury holiday homes and lodges has been created around an 18-hole golf course and lake.
A £2million leisure complex will be opening in January and will feature a heated indoor pool, steam room, sauna and spa bath, as well as a fully air-conditioned fitness suite.
Visitors to the estate can also enjoy horse riding, coarse fishing and there are various walks and birdwatching spots.
