Petrol pumps on forecourts across Cambridgeshire will soon be carrying an advert for a car sharing scheme designed to help cut the jams on the county’s roads and reduce the cost of motoring.
During March and April the pump flyers will be advertising CamShare, the Cambridgeshire Car Sharing scheme to increase awareness of the scheme and to urge people to sign up to www.camshare.co.uk.
Camshare matches journeys to other people who live nearby who make the same trip to the same destination or in the same direction. Once matched members can choose to car share as little or as often as they like with whom they like.
Research suggests that if a person car shares just once a week, they could save up to £200 a year.
The benefits of car sharing include:
* Saving on fuel costs
* Sharing the journey with someone
* Cuts congestion and pollution
* Reduce the stress of driving
