THE cause of a house fire in March yesterday (Thursday, January 5) has not yet been determined.

A woman was left suffering from smoke inhalation after the blaze, which caused severe damage to a house in Elm Road, March, at 6.30am yesterday.

The woman, who had managed to get out of the building before fire crews arrived at the scene, was taken to hospital for treatment.

A fire service spokesman said that investigations to discover the cause would continue today.

Crews from March and Chatteris fire stations were called out to deal with the blaze.

Firefighters using hose reels had brought the fire under control by 8.50am.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was started yesterday, but the results were inconclusive.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said investigators would visit the site again today to try and find the cause of the blaze.
