Neale-Wade Academy sixth-former Shannon Barrow is putting her organisational skills to the test by arranging a charity ball for the BBC Children in Need appeal.
The ball will take place on November 15 at the March Wimblington Road School running from 6pm to 11pm.
Tickets are priced at £20 and include a two-course meal and music from bands Wild Honey and Ain’t Misbehavin’. There will also be a bar and an auction of goods donated by local businesses which include beauty products, vouchers, books, ornaments and more.
Shannon is hoping she may be able to get a celebrity to conduct the auction.
The ball is a first-time venture for 16 year-old Shannon, who explained she has been involved in events before with 20Twenty Productions but has never organised her own big event.
“I had the plan about June and put it off because of my exams so I started organising it from mid August,” said Shannon, adding so far it is “going great”.
The ball dress code event is aimed at adults and anyone wanting tickets should call 0754 3460025. There are posters advertising the event.
Shannon, whose parents are Stephen and Barbara, is chair of the Youth District Council.
