Staff and pupils at Wisbech Grammar School’s Magdalene House have raised an impressive £1,066 for a cancer charity as a thank-you for the care they have given to teaching assistant Linda Field.
Mrs Field is currently undergoing treatment for lung cancer after being diagnosed with the disease about six months ago.
The school, on North Brink, decided it would be nice to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support and so organised a variety of events recently including a school disco, with music provided free of charge by Kaleidoscope Disco.
They also held a quiz night and an auction of items which included signed football shirts, and vouchers.
On Tuesday the school presented the cheque to Linda at a special assembly.
