Over 1,000 turned out for the first ever A Local Wish Fun Day on Saturday much to the delight of the event’s organisers.
Christina Purcell, of Holiday With Us, who together with Wisbech accountant Nickie Bantoft is the founder of the A Local Wish, the charity which aims to make the dreams of Fenland people come true, was thrilled by the support given to the fun day.
“It was absolutely fantastic. We had over 1,000 come through the gates, which is amazing. We had so much going on and everyone seemed to have a really good time. We were lucky with the weather and we are so grateful to all the local businesses that sponsored the fun day, and to all the people who gave time to help as well as to all those who came out to support us,” said Christina,
The day included a huge array of attractions and games from zorbing balls, to pony rides and even a strong man competition organised by the Ironworks Gym.
There was a clown show, street dancing, side stalls as well as bouncy castles and inflatable assault course and suma wrestling.
Christina said the money is still being counted but she is confident the amount raised for A Local Wish will top £1,000 once everything has been paid for.
