CHATTERIS Branch of the Royal British Legion marked Armed Forces Day on Saturday with events in the town.
A service was held at the war memorial attended by 36 people including Warrant Officer McCarty, of RAF Wyton (MBE, BEM) who, together with the branch vice-chairman, Dick Mandley, laid a fresh flower wreath at the memorial.
The standard bearers were Geoff Clarke and Jan Baines.
Parade Marshal, Leon Jones, explained to those attending that this was not a memorial service but a support to those men and women who are currently serving their country and risking their lives.
Tea, coffee and cakes were available in the Bricstan Hall together with a raffle and a flower display, donated by DJ’s Garden Centre.
Local greengrocer David Rowe made a donation towards the appeal and a total of £92 was raised for Poppy Appeal.
