Members of Chatteris Rotary Club and their wives gathered in the garden of Richard and Katherine Childs for the annual croquet competition and induction of the club president for the year.

After a buffet, current club Roger Peacock inducted two new members, Philip Gorry and Roger Wilson, and presented them with Rotary ties and lapel badges.

The award for Rotarian of the Year went to Mike Royce for a number of initiatives including the ‘Shop Locally First’ shop window stickers, the idea subsequently being adopted by other towns and villages. Roger Peacock presented the prize for the croquet competition to the club’s RYLA candidate Carl Constable with his partner Ruhena Begum.

He said he had enjoyed his year as club president and thanked the committee and members for their support. He presented the club president’s collar to vice-president Geoffrey Davies, who in turn passed his club vice-president’s collar to Donald Ashmore.

Geoffrey thanked Richard and Katherine for hosting the evening.
