Youth members of Chatteris Royal British Legion were flying high when they enjoyed an aviation event.

The six members took part in the Young Aviators Day at Sywell Airfield, Northamptonshire, on Saturday after being offered a place on the highly-sought after scheme by organiser Andre Faehndrich.

The event is now celebrating its 10th year and gives children and teenagers a taster of aviation at zero cost to them.

The day included a flight in a light/microlight aircraft, instruction on air navigation, hangar tours, egg-breaking competitions, flight simulators, air-related activities and pilot briefings.

Chatteris RBL committee member Sam Tolley said: “It was great to see such a buzz of activity and beaming smiles across the faces of all those taking part on the day, both on the participating children and support staff.”
