THE children’s charity Ormiston Children and Families Trust has been overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers this winter with record donations of gifts and hampers to help Cambridgeshire families struggling to cope in difficult times.

The charity has received donations from gift appeals at St Mary’s Church in Wisbech St Mary and bundles of lovely presents from The Santa Suitcases Appeal held by Co-op Travel in March. March Lions are also planning to bring in 10 Christmas Hampers – all these gifts to be distributed to those most in need.

Ormiston Children and Families Trust is the region’s biggest children’s charity supporting families across Cambridgeshire including projects in March, Chatteris, Huntingdon, Peterborough and Wisbech.

Service Manager Amanda Newman at the children’s centres in March and Chatteris, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the support from so many members of the public this Christmas - there are many families in Cambridgeshire really struggling to make ends meet and the festive season can put a strain on all families.

“We know these gifts and hampers will make a big difference. Thank you to the companies, the organisations, the churches and the individuals who have helped.”
