The Christmas Tree Festival at St Augustine’s Church, Wisbech is running again this year from today (Friday) to Sunday.
The church is full of trees with the theme of Christmas songs. It is open with free entry for viewing over the three days.
On Saturday during the day there are stalls, raffles, a tombola and food as well as the tree displays.
The tombola is very popular and is the result of a sewing group that is held each week to produce high quality items to be won. This same group produces items for the tombola at the Rose Fair in the summer.
In the evening The Bellfolk are performing a concert. This very popular group of campanologists travel and entertain all over the country and have to be booked well in advance. They are a lovely way to enter the Christmas spirit and hear Christmas favourites.
As part of the church fundraising, everyone in the church and the Friends of St Augustine’s work hard to make the festival the success it is. Without such fundraising, the church would not survive and would no longer be there for the community.
