AROUND 100 golfers teed off in the second annual Bob Johns Classic tournament to raise cash for charity.
The event, held at Tydd St Giles Golf Club on Tuesday, was organised in memory of Bob by his family and friends in aid of Cancer Research.
It was held to mark the second the second anniversary of his death from prostate cancer and organisers are hoping it will raise at least as much as last year’s fantastic total of £1,030.
Playing in teams of four, they made their way around the 18-hole course. Afterwards there was a presentation of prizes for various competitions including nearest the pin and the best score for a team of four.
There was also a raffle to raise additional money, with prizes donated from local businesses.
The event raised £1,030 for Cancer Research.
John Leake, Bob’s brother-in-law, thanked everyone who took part in the competition, for the support of Tydd St Giles Golf Club who donated the course for the day and he also thanked all the businesses who donated prizes.
