Commonwealth gold medal athlete Leon Baptiste helped to inspire over 200 Year 6 pupils at a Sports Festival at March’s Neale-Wade Academy last Tuesday.

The Festival was part of a series of days helping pupils with their transition to secondary school in September. Primary pupils were able to mix with Neale-Wade pupils and staff as well as others who will be starting the Academy.

The Festival gave all participants a taste of the sporting opportunities they will be able to pursue at the Academy and at local clubs represented at the event.

During the closing ceremony, medals were presented. Jason Wing, Academy principal, said: “This event has provided an ideal opportunity for our new students to have fun and be inspired before they start in September.”

The day was made possible thanks to Fenmarc, Sainsbury’s and Fenland Council. Year 6 pupils came from all over Fenland.
