Children enjoy revamped Tydd St Giles play area
Youngsters in a Fenland village are having a great time playing on a climbing frame and a zip wire after their play area has undergone a £30,000 make over.
Tydd St Giles Playground was once a sorry sight with a few stump and the remains of a swing.
But after five years of work by villagers, including the late Sheila Long, the playground has now finally been revamped.
One of the people behind the project is Joanne Button, who says the new equipment is going down well with children.
Mrs Button said: “Every time we go past there are children on there playing, which is fantastic. It makes it all worthwhile.”
Mrs Button says there are plans to rename the site The Sheila Long Memorial Play Ground.
Villagers had been busy raising money for the project but also received grants from Brigstock and Wren charity, The Grange Wind Farm and the Rural Capital Grants Fund.
