Have your say

Home-Start is offering two volunteer preparation courses in Fenland, thanks to support from Fenland District Council.

The last course run, attended by 13 volunteers, enabled Home-Start to support 11 extra families in the district and now you have a chance to do the same.

Home-Start is a charity that provides support to families with at least one child under five. Volunteers give valuable help and support to these families for between one-and-a-half and two hours per week.

This support could be helping a mum go to the park with her twins, taking a family shopping or just giving parents a chance to sit down and have a chat while the volunteer plays with the children.

One family said: “Just knowing that I have the volunteer coming on a Wednesday means that I can cope the rest of the week.”

A training course for Home-Start North Fenland will be starting in Guyhirn on June 4, 2013 from 9.45am to 2.30pm for nine sessions.

If you have parental experience and have an hour or two spare to give a family a helping hand, please call Marney on 01480 700242 or e-mail

Home-Start South Fenland will be running a course later in the year. For more details please call Jan on 01353-663158 or e-mail
