Fairbrother Pharmacy, on Church Terrace, Wisbech, had 10,000 worth of toiletries stolen in a break-in.

THIEVES used hammers and axes to smash their way into a Wisbech pharmacy and got away with thousands of pounds worth of toiletries.

Police are appealing for information after two offenders smashed their way into Fairbrother Pharmacy, in Church Terrace, at 2.25am on Friday (February 3).

Once inside they helped themselves to toiletries and perfume worth an estimated £10,000 before making off in a blue or green Mazda 323, registration number N25 KCK. The vehicle was stolen from Wisbech earlier in the week.

Pharmacy owner Mina Patel said the pair were caught on CCTV using hammers and axes to smash the plate glass door, then smashing the perfume display cabinets just inside.

“They were sweeping the perfume into rubble sacks,” she said. “They just grabbed what they could and left.”

A 33-year-old man from Wisbech has been arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has been released on police bail until April.

Despite the mess left by the break-in, the pharmacy remained open for business on Friday.

Detective Constable David Marsh, investigating, said: “I would urge anyone with any information about this burglary to call police. I am also keen to speak to anyone who saw a vehicle matching this description either after the burglary or prior to it.”

Anyone with any information should call DC Marsh on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555111.
