A Wisbech woman is appealing to people to keep their eyes open for jewellery taken in a burglary at her home at the weekend.

The woman, who does not want to be named, returned home on Sunday afternoon to discover burglars had smashed windows at the back of her property in Victory Road, to gain access to the house.

The culprits then ransacked the bedroom, emptying drawers before making off with a large quantity of gold and silver jewellery and the safe.

Items stolen included distinctive Victorian jewellery and a gold charm bracelet, which was of huge sentimental value as the charms had been collected over many years.

The break-in is thought to have occurred overnight on Saturday (June 29) as the householder was away for the weekend.

The owner is hoping that people will keep their eyes open for items, some of which are pictured here, and she asks anyone with information to contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800-555111.
