Appeal after van fire in Wisbech

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a van fire in Wisbech on Christmas Eve after a man was seen pouring something over the vehicle.

The incident involved a white Vauxhall Astra van which was set on fire at around 11pm in Somers Road.

DC Mark Yendley, who is investigating the incident, said: “I would urge anyone with information about this fire to contact police.

“We know a man was seen pouring something over the van shortly before the fire.

“Whoever set this fire would have been likely to have returned home in the late hours of Saturday and would have smelt strongly of smoke.”
