Vandals have damaged a section of fencing at Wisbech General Cemetery.
Around 25 metres of wooden fencing was smashed at the Victorian cemetery on North End. It is believed to have happened on Friday night.
Fenland District Council looks after the cemetery and a spokesperson said the council had already been planning to replace the fencing with something stronger.
Talks have been ongoing with the Friends group that maintain the cemetery as a wildlife reserve, about the most suitable kind of fencing that will be better for security and visually in keeping with the cemetery as well.
The damage has reiterated the need for better fencing.
