THIEVES who stole an ice cream machine have left a local business in the cold as Fenland finally basks in some sunshine.
The ice cream van which sits on Wisbech Market Place, owned by Darren Bowers, was broken into last Monday night (May 21) at its parking place off Cromwell Road. The soft ice cream machine was stripped of its working parts.
Darren said the machine is their “livelihood” and as they are unwilling to put the £15,000 cost of a new machine onto their insurance, they have been left trying to save up the cash to replace it.
But he thanked all their loyal customers who have using the van since it started coming to the town centre around seven years ago. The theft has not deterred them and they are happy to accept soft scoop ice cream.
• Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police on 101.
