Man hospitalised in alleged assault

PART of a March town centre road was closed on Thursday night while police dealt with an incident in a pub.

A 50-year-old man suffered a severe head injury in an alleged assault, which happened at the Coachmakers Arms in Station Road.

Police and paramedics were called to the hostelry at around 7.40pm and the area around the pub was cordoned off.

The man was sedated and anaesthetised before being taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where his condition was serious but stable.

Officers were still at the pub on Friday morning carrying out investigations, and a man, who was arrested in connection with the incident was being questioned at March police station.
