Vigilance urged after spate of thefts from Elm Cemetery

PEOPLE are being urged to remain vigilant following a number of thefts from graves at Elm Cemetery, near Wisbech.

In the latest incident which happened between October 30 and November 30 when a rose bush and a bunch of roses were stolen from a grave of a 17-year-old girl.

Between October 29 and 30 a man discovered a basket of artificial flowers had been stolen from his daughter’s grave.

PC Shaun Mitchell said: “These thefts have been extremely distressing for the families involved and I would urge anyone with information about those responsible to contact me.

“It is possible that there have been more thefts and I would ask people to report any items they believe may have been stolen from graves.

“People should also report any suspicious activity at the cemetery.”
