A March grandmother has presented a cheque for £300 to local group Dance Mania.

The donation came from town business Ridgeons, who kindly put forward the money after being approached by retired employee Sylvia Band.

Sylvia has a long association with Dance Mania, which is run by Lisa Dickinson. Her granddaughters Sarah-Louise Cooper (26) and Aimee Cooper (21) started dancing with Lisa when she first started running classes and Sylvia’s younger granddaughters, Rebecca Band (7) and Lucy Band (5), dance with her now.

Sylvia said: “Lisa works ever so hard, making the costumes and running all the classes, so I just wanted to do something. I worked for Ridgeons for 30 years so they were kind enough to give a donation when I asked them if they could help.”

Dance Mania holds three shows a year but also get asked to dance at local events. So far this year, they will be performing at the St George’s Day fair, March Summer Festival, Watermen’s fun day, Lions garden party, Manea Gala and RSPCA fun day. Classes run six days a week, for ages from tiny tots to adults.
