A Chatteris couple who were introduced by their parents are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Love blossomed for Frank , 83, and Maureen, 78, Holman after their parents arranged a meeting. The couple, of Westbourne Close, tied the knot in All Saints’ Church, Haggerston, London, on March 26, 1955. They celebrated this milestone with 50 members of their family and friends at a party in Harlow. Mrs Holman, who moved to Chatteris 14 years ago, said give and take was the secret of their long marriage. She said: “You have your ups and downs but if the love is strong enough you will get through it.” During their early years together, Mr Holman worked as a train driver and help to shunt out the Flying Scotsman on many occasions before moving into engineering.
They have two sons Stephen and Andrew, who live in Chatteris, along with four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr and Mrs Holman are pictured above at their party WORDS AND PICTURE: SAMUEL HOLMAN-GAVIN
