A FENLAND musical director on her way to a fundraising concert in March was killed in a car accident on Saturday.
Kathy Faelber is the director of music for Fenland Music Centre and had been in March for the rehearsals of the concert, which took place at St Peter’s Church on Saturday evening.
The 56-year-old mother-of-two had returned home to Mildenhall to print out the final version of the concert programme and was on her way to the church when the accident happened at around 4.40pm.
The concert organisers decided to go ahead with the show, despite the tragedy, and the children were sat down afterwards and told the bad news.
Don Morris, from March Rotary which supported the concert, said many youngsters burst into tears when they were told.
“It’s such a waste of life,” he said. “Kathy was a real gem.”
Mrs Faelber was driving a Mazda that was in collision with a silver Honda Accord. The male driver of the Honda, Bradly Ring (26), also died. Mr Ring was a member of the US Air Force, based at RAF Mildenhall, who lived in Littleport.
