Doddington Carnival takes place on Saturday and as usual, the organisers have a packed schedule of events to guarantee a great family day out.

The theme for this year is ‘Children’s Books’ so there are sure to be some imaginative costumes and float designs for the parade.

The fancy dress judging will take place at 9.45am, followed by the float judging at 10am. Then at 10.30am the procession starts.

Please note road closures for the parade at Manor Estate, Primrose Hill and Benwick Road. Roads close at 9.30am and will reopen by 12.30pm.

The field gates open at 1.30pm ready for the start of races at 2pm, not forgetting the popular soap box derby. Then 4pm will see the trophies presented to winners.

This year’s Carnival Prince and Princess are Nicholas Lambert and Sophie Gillett.

Nicholas is looking forward to being Carnival Prince because he says it is a unique opportunity and he has never had a major role in an event like this. He also says it will be a great pleasure to represent Lionel Walden School and Doddington. Nicholas’ hobbies include playing computer games, reading and writing.

Sophie is very excited to be Carnival Princess. Her hobbies include baking, art and maths. She also loves spending time with her family. Her dislikes are cruelty to animals and bullies.

Everyone from the Doddington Carnival Committee hopes that everyone has a great Carnival and Sports. Come and join them on Saturday, 6 July.
