HEROES and villains was the theme for this year’s Doddington Carnival on Saturday and the village residents did not disappoint.
Creative costumes and sets filled the ten lorry floats as they paraded through the village. Interpretations on the theme ranged from the sinister Dr Who to the heroic King Arthur and people’s hero Robin Hood.
The winning float came from a group of mums, who had named themselves Mad Chums and Mums. They were given the trophy for their innovative Scooby-Doo float.
The parade, hailed as the best ever by organisers, was led by the Peterborough Highland Pipe Band and accompanied by several others, including a FACT bus and salsa dancers.
The afternoon of sporting events on the village field was very successful. The committee had worked hard to get a variety of stalls and games to keep people at the field, which seemed to pay off.
The money from the day is still being counted, but is hoped to be on par with last year, which took around £500 in collections alone.
