A FUNDRAISING auction is being held on July 28 to launch an appeal to transform a derelict site in the centre of Wisbech into an open space.
The Centenary Green site, adjoining the Octavia Hill’s Birthplace House, has been purchased by the National Trust as a memorial to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Octavia Hill.
Donations are being accepted for the auction, which will be conducted by deputy Lord Lieutenant Richard Barnwell and be held at the Rose and Crown Hotel.
Items accepted include pictures, porcelain, jewellery, coins, phots and collectables.
Donations can be taken to Octavia Hill’s Birthplace House, 7 South Brink, Wisbech, between Saturday and Wednesday from 1pm to 4.30pm. If you need them to be collected, contact the House on 01945-476358. Items need to be received by July 27 at the latest.
