The GER Club at March hosted its first life-saving blood donor session at the Robingoodfellows Lane venue.
Club president Tony Barnes, who has been giving blood for around seven years, was delighted to be among the donors on Wednesday.
Tony (42) is keen to make people aware the sessions have switched from the Station Road Youth and Community Centre.
He said: “We heard the service was ringing round trying to find a new venue around March and the committee decided it was a good idea and we wanted to be involved.”
Future dates at the GER are November 15 and 27. New and returning donors should book an appointment via the donor helpline 0300 123 23 23.
Donor Carer Supervisor Gill Smith at NHS Blood and Transplant said: “We were really pleased to welcome both new and familiar faces to the launch of the new blood donation session at the GER. When looking at blood donation sessions and venues, there are key areas that need to be looked at in detail and the new venue provided all the facilities we could have asked for.”
