The dining room aboard doomed ship the Titanic was recreated in the hall of Peckover Primary School on Monday.

Dressed in their finery, children from first to third class enjoyed ‘tea’ and cakes in the presence of Captain Edward Smith, aka Year 6 teacher Kate Kendal.

Titanic has been the Year 6 theme this term and Rachel Horvath, also a Year 6 teacher, explained they had explored the famous story in several subjects.

The children made their own high teas, from making sandwiches to designing the cake stands. They also learned how to waltz and were happy to demonstrate their fancy footwork.

The main characters from the Hollywood version of Titanic, Jack and Rose, were in attendance, as was ship designer Thomas Andrews.
