Wildcats Post 16 Academy are about to audition for the last few remaining places on their full time BTEC Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre or Dance which starts in September 2013.
The places are fully funded (16-19 and UK citizen) and are offered across the Wisbech area to students who feel they would benefit from professional training. The course gives students the chance to gain a recognised qualification in a theatre school environment.
Students work towards performances not only locally but nationally including in some of the countries top theatres. They also receive agency representation, show reels and head-shots and are given careers support and guidance throughout the two years.
Alongside this they take part in additional qualifications including RAD/ISTD and LAMDA. The course, which is based in Stamford is a full time qualification equivalent to A Levels suitable for students aged 16-19 years. Students take part in full scale musicals and West End shows alongside a packed timetable of performing arts classes.
This opportunity usually attracts a high cost - studying the same course in London can cost upwards of £10,000 per year. However Wildcats, in partnership with New College Stamford have developed a course that mirrors that of top London Theatre Schools, but without the fees that would usually be required.
Students who apply for the places would have to show 100 per cent commitment to the training - the course is full time for two years and students can choose to specialise in either Dance or Musical Theatre.
Wildcats are keen that these places go to students from across the area who would be unable to attend theatre school by any other means.
