STAFF and 62 pupils from Cromwell Community College in Chatteris had a star experience in the Big Apple at half term.

The keen-eyed teenagers spotted former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham coming out of Prada while they were waiting to shop in Abercrombie & Fitch. One Year 11 girl got the shot all the paparazzi were after.

Jackie Harding, who was one of 11 staff members who went along on the trip, said the pupils called out to Victoria and she waved at them.

They packed a lot into the four days they were in New York and did plenty of sightseeing, including visiting the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial, Central Park and the American Museum of History.

In total, they walked around 35 miles and staff said pupils’ behaviour was “exemplary” at all times.

The trip was organised by English teacher Mrs Chapman, PE teacher Mr Chapman and finance assistant Mrs Fox, who were all delighted with the trip and are very grateful for the time given by the staff to make the trip possible.
