Former Neale-Wade student Harry Yardy has been awarded Cambridgeshire’s top sport student 2012.
The 17-year-old from March, who is currently completing an OCR National 3 Advanced Sports Diploma at Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge, is looking forward to going to university to study sports, physical education and coaching science at Birmingham - the top place int he country for this course.
Harry, who is the son of Kelly Yardy of March, and Richard Yardy of Wimblington, has attained distinctions in all 18 of the units on his current diploma course and the college will be keeping a copy of his work as an example to show future students.
Harry, who is a keen footballer, cricket and rugby player and weightlifter, is also hoping to gain an internship, possibly with West Brom football club.
“I am incredibly enthusiastic about my start and university in September, but I also wish to improve my practical performance and become recognised in sport as well as in academia,” said the teenager, who added: “I look forward to joining sports clubs at the uni, which has world class facilities.”
