Twenty-two students from Wisbech’s Meadowgate School performed at London’s 02 Arena as part of the Young Voices Concert.
They were among 10,000 children who enjoyed rehearsing before performing in front of the evening audience.
School music co-ordinator Beth Harper believes Meadowgate may have been the only special school there.
She said the students were a credit to the school. “We were all choked up. They were amazing and we were lost for words,” said Beth. The choir were part of the backing singers to the African Children’s choir and former Britain’s Got Talent star, Connie Talbot.
Beth said each school had 14 songs to learn before the concert which they then sang together. They also had dance moves to perform and had been practicing since September.
Pupils will be singing again at the end of May for the official opening of building work at the school under the Building Schools for the Future programme.
They were also invited to perform to pupils at a school in King’s Lynn.
