BOOK-loving youngsters at Westwood Junior School in March were amazed to see their new-look library when they returned to school after the Christmas break.
Over the holidays, a team of parents and staff worked hard to transform the library.
It has had a fresh coat of paint and £1,000 worth of new books. Funky round tables and coloured chairs fill the room, plus bean bags and a sofa to make the children’s reading experiences more comfortable.
To brighten up the library even more, there are squares on the window that can be “sponsored” for children to draw their favourite book character or book cover.
Class 10 teacher Helen Sidaway said the children got to use the library for the first time on Thursday and it had gone down very well.
“One child said to me: ‘I love it!’,” she said.
The money for the new books and the £1,000 that went on new furniture came from the Friends of Westwood School.
