Children at the village school have already started using the pool, with Key Stage 1 swimming every day and Key Stage 2 swimming three times a week.

Headteacher Alyson Palmer said: “The whole community who rallied around. To have the pool built a year after the old one was condemned is just amazing.

“It wasn’t just the parents who helped; the children were great coming up with ideas. It was a whole community effort. We’re very grateful to everybody.”

The school were extremely pleased to receive a donation of £11,000 from the Hudson Foundation. This added to the £14,500 raised by the community and also gave the school some money for running costs and the extras they needed to buy.

Mrs Palmer said: “The children are thrilled. They love it. It is a fantastic resource for the school and teaches them a real life skill.”
