A COLLEGE of West Anglia student has received a commemorative medal for carrying the 1948 Olympic Torch between Walton Highway to Marshland High School.

Alexander Warren (17), a Level 2 Art and Design student from the Isle campus, was nominated by his local church, St Mary’s, of West Walton.

He had to run approximately one mile in the company of two fellow runners.

“Alexander only admitted his fame on the last day of the college term – as is the way with this young man,” said Alison Waring, lecturer.

The picture was taken by Level 3 Photography student Andrejs Zavickis.
