Wisbech Society trustees visited Thomas Clarkson Academy to present a prize to the winner of an essay competition run to help mark the Society’s 75th anniversary.
Fourteen-year-old Molly-Mae Taylor won the £75 cash prize, impressing the judges with the level of research in her work.
The competition, open to students of both the Academy and Wisbech Grammar School, challenged entrants to write between 800 and 1,000 words on the subject ‘How Life in Wisbech Has Changed Since 1939’.
Mrs Lockyer, the school’s Assistant Leader of English, accompanied Molly-Mae, who has ambitions of becoming an English teacher herself, at the prize-giving ceremony. The Year 10 student has not yet decided how she is going to spend her prize money.
