Pupils at Friday Bridge rock - and that’s official. The school has been running a very successful after hours Rock School under the tuition of accomplished musician and teacher, Toby Rideout and on Friday parents and classmates were invited to the current group’s last gig.

Toby has kept the numbers small to give children a chance to learn instruments such as guitar and drums as well as singing. They took on Queen’s iconic “We Will Rock You” as part of their final set which resulted in an encore from the audience.

This term’s band were called the Rolling Moans and after the gig, in true rock and roll fashion, parents and staff joined the young musicians for a jammin’ session

Headteacher Jayne Williams said the Rock School is so popular, it runs for a term before switching to a new group. She said the children have blossomed because as well as enjoying music, it has boosted their self-esteem and confidence.

“They come in as individuals and then learn to be part of a band,” said Mrs Williams.
