Youngsters at a Fenland school had a big surprise when they received a letter from the Queen.
The group of pupils at Gorefield Primary School had sent a copy of their first school newspaper, ‘Fishy News’, to the Queen and were stunned to receive a letter in response.
The letter, from lady-in-waiting Annabel Whitehead, said Her Majesty was interested to see the newspaper and thought it was kind they had produced a colour copy specifically for her.
Headteacher Alyson Palmer was also impressed with ‘Fishy News’ and has doubled their pagination for the next edition, from four pages to eight.
There has also been interest from a range of local businesses and organisations, who have been lining up to be interviewed by the intrepid reporting team.
Estate agents, solicitors, firefighters and travel agents have all been in touch, inviting the children along to see how their businesses work and allowing themselves to be interviewed for ‘Fishy News’.
