Elm School had a wonderful day celebrating its 150th anniversary when the Rt Rev Stephen Conway, Bishop of Ely, planted a commemorative tree with the help of school council members.
Bishop Stephen enjoyed a tour of the school and nursery and also led an act of worship. Joining the celebrations were school governors and members of All Saints’ Parish Church.
Bishop Stephen planted an English Elm which has been specially propagated to be resistant to disease.
The celebrations continue with an exhibition and open day on Saturday October 19 when it is hoped past pupils and staff will return to share their memories.
The school is keen to receive old photographs or objects associated with its history for the exhibition.
The children would be delighted if past pupils or staff could send in letters with their memories of the school in days gone by.
