SUGARCRAFT learners from Fenland studying at the College of West Anglia and their tutor all tasted success at the International Exhibition ‘Salon Culinaire’ cake decorating competition.

Seven awards were won in total in different categories and at different levels at this event, held at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre. It attracted exhibitors from the United Kingdom as well as entrants from many other countries of the world.

The exhobition was the culmination of nearly a year’s work. All of the learners and the tutor collected awards.

Tutor Alison Newman, said: “It’s great that the learners can get international recognition for all of their hard work.”

Award winners and categories:

Wedding Bouquet – Alison Newman (from Gorefield): Bronze.

Floral Exhibit – Valerie Goult (Gorefield): Merit.

Celebration Cake – Sara Petchell (Long Sutton): Merit; Cheryl Ridley (Gorefield): Bronze; Valerie Goult (Gorefield): Merit.

Wedding Cake – Joan Petchell (Wisbech): Bronze.

Courses are run at the Isle Campus and include cake decorating and Sugarcraft skills. Courses are available for all levels including beginner courses, intermediate and advanced.
