A party of 95 departed from Cromwell Community College in Chatteris for a trip of a lifetime to New York during the recent school holiday.

They completed a hectic schedule, experiencing amazing views from the top of Empire State Building’s 86th floor observatory at night, a walk across Brooklyn Bridge, a stroll through Central Park, a three hour boat cruise around Manhattan, a visit to the Rockerfeller Centre’s 70th floor, a look around Grand Central Station, an emotional visit to the World Trade Centre and of course a trip to the shops, visiting Macy’s the largest department store in the world!

Of course food was a major factor during the trip eating at three world famous landmark restaurants in Times Square, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Café.

Over the four days the students walked in excess of 35 miles on sidewalks, travelled on coaches and used the New York Metro system.

The students were very fortunate to also experience a day in Washington DC where they visited the White House, The Lincoln Memorial, and finally a visit to the Smithsonian Museum.

Since returning back to school, the staff have been bombarded with thank you messages, cards and emails of thanks from the families of children involved.
