Talented pupils at Glebelands Primary School whisked an audience through history with their performance of ‘The Key Master’.
The drama group, which meets after school, performed twice on Thursday to pupils and later to parents and guests.
‘The Key Master’ covers British history from 1066, starting with William the Conqueror and going into the future. Key historical events are featured, including the Tudors, Guy Fawkes, the suffragettes and World War II.
The time-travelling pupils are shocked to see that everything in the future is bad and come back to the present to make changes.
Teacher Becky Raven, who runs the drama group with Kath Collier, said the youngsters worked really hard to make the play a success.
“Everybody was amazed,” she said. “There were lots of songs and words to learn. They have done really well and worked really hard to pull it out of the bag.”
The production was designed to make the children aware of how important history is and to show that their actions today are tomorrow’s history.
