West Walton School hold their annual Oscar Ceremony awarding pupils for good work throughout the year.

Students showed their calibre at an Oscars ceremony to celebrate literary prowess.

The annual celebration, now in its sixth year, celebrated the best of West Walton Primary School’s young pupils who have produced some sterling work during their Literacy Festival.

Headteacher Jill Davis said she was very proud of all the children and the way they behaved on Friday for the awards ceremony.

The red-carpet event saw guests, including Wisbech town Beadle Alister Hopkins, watch children from each class receive prizes in different categories.

The theme this year was non-fiction, so in addition to the best overall category, there were prizes for presentation, research, vocabulary and explanation.

Class 6 made Mrs Davis proud by organising the whole event. They were the announcers and ushers, the head boy and head girl led the ceremony, there was a photographer and they catered for the guests.
