A man has appeared in court charged with making more than 5,700 indecent images of children and possessing “extreme pornographic” movies of a person having sex with an animal.

Christopher Tickner, 33, of Abington Grove, Elm, faced seven charges when he appeared before King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

He is accused of making 5,753 indecent photographs of children, consisting of 2,633 at level one in severity on the Copine scale, 89 at level two, 450 at level three, 568 at level four and 87 at level five, and also possessing indecent photos.

He is also charged with making and possessing 24 indecent movies of children, ranging from levels one to five, possessing 10 extreme pornographic movies involving an animal, and a further four extreme movies with another animal.

The offences are alleged to have happened on March 7 this year. Tickner spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth and did not enter any pleas.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction and sent the case to Cambridge Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing before a judge on November 27. Tickner was released on conditional bail.
