TALENTED Gorefield schoolgirl Eva Mason (10) has proved she’s got what it takes to be a star after she won a talent show against a field of teenagers.
Musical Eva won ‘Search for a Star 2012’ at the Princess Theatre, Hunstanton after she wowed the judges with her ten-minute routine.
Parents Katrina and Phill and brother Oscar (13) were in the audience to watch Eva triumph over her competitors, who were all aged from around 14 to their late teens.
Phill said: “I was very close to tears. I’ve seen her dance but to see her up there on stage is very different. We’re very proud of her.”
Her ten minute act included many jokes, playing piano and singing ‘Price Tag’, singing and dancing to ‘Maybe’ from the musical Annie, and singing ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ from the musical Funny Girl.
She bagged a £500 prize and the chance to perform at Searles Holiday Park – she has already spent some of the money on a new iPad with her name and ‘Search for a Star 2012 winner’ written on the back.
Eva, who attends Gorefield Primary School, has previously been in a jazz show at the Angles Theatre and also plays piano and saxophone.
Her success at the talent show has prompted Oscar, who is also musical, to think about entering next year, so we may see some sibling rivalry at the 2013 show.
